Getting to Know You, Getting to Know All About You!

Hey There Sports fans!

For those of you who might not know me first let me just say thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the internet and taking the time to see what's going on over here. Secondly I would like to take some of my time to answer a few questions about myself in order to shed more light onto the rider of this here lil trip. Some of these are a mix of your typical first "getting to know someone" questions but because I'm a fan of deeper thinking I chose to throw in some questions that have no right or wrong answer just require a little bit brain power. And away we go!

Full Name:

Samantha Ann Sewell

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?:

Probably 22 years old

Do you have any siblings?:

Yes! I have 3 younger sisters.
(P.S. All of our names begin with the letter S)

Do you have any pets?:

Just one, my family dog. Her name is Cheerio, or more informally known as;
"Cheerio Deerio, da cutest puppy in da whole wild world!"

Which is worse, failing or never trying?:

Never trying, because you shouldn't let fear of failing dictate what you do in life. What if you tried and succeeded?

Where did you grow up?:

I grew up in several suburbs just outside of Philadelphia in my youth and in my adult life I definitely did a lot of growing up while going to school in Boston MA.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?:

I hope not, using the example of this ride, it's my goal to put my money where my mouth is and do some good while out in the world. This is a lifestyle I hope to continue wherever I am in life.

What do you do for a living:

I'm a freelance theatre worker in Boston at the moment. In my career I've worked for theatres such as the A.R.T., Central Square Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, and the Walnut St. Theatre just to name a few. I do sound design, audio engineering, props mastering, and carpentry as well as anything else I can do to continue my career in the theatre. I've also held odd jobs such as Pedicabbing, Barista, and Whole Food's employee.

What is your favorite food:

Avocado's, they're just so versatile and yummy!

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?:

Doing random acts of kindness. It's a rewarding endeavor even if happiness isn't the national currency. Try it!

Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?:

Doing what I believe in. Life's way too short to settle for what you're doing in life. If you believe in it and truly have passion for your beliefs you'll make it work.

Where did you attend college?:

I went to Northeastern University where I majored in Music Industry and Theatre and proudly graduated in 2011.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

Hopefully traveling the world and working in theatre. I'll have hopefully attended grad school (Cal Arts, fingers crossed!) for sound design or some theatrical position and use that to continue my constant search for good storytelling. If not then maybe working in the circus, who knows?!

Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?:

A mix of both but with a heavy lean towards doing the right thing. However I have a slight perfectionist tendency  so I try to do things as right as I can when I can.

Would you break the law to save a loved one?:

Absolutely, wouldn't you?

Do you have a favorite color?:

I have two, orange and blue. Together they're the best color combo in my opinion.

How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?:

Because we all come from different walks of life, were raised differently, and have developed different tastes and opinions about things. Everyone is different and unique even if we have similar characteristics.

Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?:

Haha I have but the more I think about it these days the more I value patience and letting things come in due time. These days I just press it once, that is when I'm not taking the stairs.

Who do you admire most and why?

From an early age I've always admired women who were able to transcend and push through the boundaries of society's  stereotypes. I grew up reading about and admiring the likes of some amazing women such as Amelia Earheart, Rosa Parks, Billie Jean King, and Billie Holiday. They have always inspired me to make my mark on history much like they have and  I have been known to be so bold as to say that I wanted to be the first female pitcher's for the  Philadelphia Phillies when asked what I wanted to do when I grew up. These days I am inspired by the women who are champions in their every day lives, from mothers who's job it is to tend every day to their children for no pay, to the women on the front lines of wars that ravage this world, to the breast cancer patients and survivors and everyone else in between. Women rock, and I admire any woman who knows this and does something about it.

What are you most grateful for?:

The support of my parents, my family, and my community.
